I've been battling a super damp, musty crawl space for what feels like forever. After trying out a bunch of dehumidifiers and spending way too many hours watching YouTube reviews (my wife thinks I'm crazy), I think I've finally cracked the code. Thought I'd share my experience in case anyone else is in the same boat.
So, after all that research and some trial and error, I ended up going with the AlorAir 90 PPD. Let me tell you, this thing is a beast! Here's why I love it:
It sucks up moisture like nobody's business - perfect for my swamp of a crawl space.
Built like a tank - I'm pretty sure it'll outlast me at this rate.
Doesn't make my electricity bill cry (too much).
Has a built-in pump, so I don't have to play contortionist to empty it.
Even I can figure out how to use it (and trust me, that's saying something).
Fits in my crawl space without me having to knock down walls.
But hey, I get it. We all have different needs (and budgets). So here are some other options I tried or seriously considered:
Aprilaire 1820 - Great if you want to dehumidify your whole house. Set it and forget it type of deal.
Dri-Eaz PHD 200 - This little guy packs a punch. Perfect if your crawl space is more of a crawl cupboard.
HomeLabs 3000 - My first dehumidifier. Decent if you're on a budget.
AlorAir 55 PPD - Like its big brother, but easier on the wallet.
Ivation 70 Pint - For all you eco-warriors out there. Energy Star certified and all that jazz.
Dri-Eaz F413 - Used this bad boy after a minor flood. It's like the Hulk of dehumidifiers.
Mounto 80 Pints - If your crawl space is more like a swimming pool, this one's for you.
AlorAir Commercial - Overkill for me, but great for flood restoration apparently.
BaseAire AirWerx - Solid middle-ground between performance and price.
Anyway, hope this helps someone out there. My crawl space is finally starting to feel less like a tropical rainforest and more like... well, a normal crawl space. If anyone has any questions, fire away! I'm basically a dehumidifier expert now (just don't tell my wife I said that).
